Sunday Stroll - Slow Living

Will you walk with me on the quiet streets
of this sleepy town
on a foggy February afternoon?

We will see the colors and textures
of the winter,
all around us.

We will hear the cold rain fall
and feel the snow turn to slush
beneath our carefull steps.

Above us,
everything stretches
toward the sky.

And down below
we lean into spring
though it is weeks away.

Shall we linger at the library?
It is a good day to read,
and to walk slowly
while the winter teases us
with glimpses of spring.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you serenity and joy.

Sunday Stroll: Contrasts

My son and I are staying in town,
where we can walk to school
and the beach
and the library
and market
when it isn’t “ten below.”

On the weekends,
I head out to the farm
for a little while
so I can run with the wolves...
or the husky,
as the case may be.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you peace.

Sunday Stroll: Happy Trails

Winter blooms

The luminous moon rises.

Light falls in the west,
but still we run.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you happy trails.

Winter

Winter has fallen on these northern hills.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you peace.

A Long Quiet Autumn

I have been so quiet here, I know.  I have not posted a Sunday Stroll in so many weeks, though I have walked in the quiet places that offer peace.  I have not been taking my technology along on my walks, nor spending much time online, other than working on the classwork for my master's course.

I have been living a lot, thinking a lot, reading a lot... just not spending much time at the keyboard.  I hope to return to the "writerly life" this fall, as I complete a short book of memoirs and dive into a work of fiction for the annual "NaNoWriMo" event.  Do you know about it?  It is a great deal of fun and a wonderful challenge for those who like to write.

If anyone is still out there reading, I appreciate you.  I will be back to reading blogs soon too.
