This morning everything is dripping from night rain, but the sun is shining through the clouds over the eastern hills. We are expecting fair weather for the weekend, though seasonally cool, so my "to do" list grows longer: roll up and bring in the garden hose, clip back some plants that are "done" for the year, cut back dead blooms on the mums, and bring in the rag rug from the front deck. As I wrote this post, the softest rain began to fall, so I ran outside and took a couple of photos. The photo below is of one end of a rainbow across the western sky.
I've included a photos of sunflowers and yellow-orange mums taken this morning. You can see those flowers looking very different, in this post a year ago today.

Those photos are truly beautiful! I've never been good at taking pics of rainbows, I'm a bit jealous.
Well Katie, I was a little disappointed with my own photo. Of course the rainbow was much prettier in person! But thank you! That is a nice thing to say. It was a very pretty morning at any rate. :)
That picture of the rainbow over the hills is gorgeous.
Your blog is just truly peaceful to me. I love visiting and seeing the photos and hearing about your thoughts.
Kate, Thank you so much! We have several rainbows over the last few weeks, but they always stop me in my tracks. :)
Saly, Thank you for visiting again. What a kind thing to say about my blog. I'm glad to share that peaceful feeling with you. :)
The rainbow photo is so beautiful. What a lovely area you live in. And what a very good idea to show the pictures from a year ago! That's one of the joys of keeping a blog- you can go back and see your world a year (or more) earlier. Thanks for a great posting, Aisling.
Nan, Thank you for your nice comments. I agree with you about blogging. I've never been a very consistent journal keeper, but I seem to be doing alright with my blog. :)
I have thought of the "year ago today" idea before, but when I have looked back I usually land on a day when I didn't post last year.
I'm glad you stopped by!
What beautiful photos, Aisling - I love rainbows! We're having our summer very late in the UK this year, today is again sunny and in the high 60's low 70's. It compensates a little for the continous, torrential rain we had all summer!
Lesley, Though it is late, I am glad you are able to enjoy a summer this year! I am glad also that you stopped by! :)
