Sunday Stroll - Spring Snow Storm

Tiggy has the right idea today; curl up in a ball and sleep, because it is surely not a good day for a leisurely stroll in the garden. Nevertheless, I suited up and headed out and snapped a few photos.
To the west, clouds:

To the east, more clouds:

Where the strong gusts of wind have blown the snow away, birds gather seaching the cold ground for food.

The butterfly garden, so bright with promise last week, is buried beneath a heavy white blanket. No sign of bud nor new green leaf in the garden today. It is a relief to see the evergreens in the garden on a day like this.
Trudging through drifts that rose past my knees, I worked my way down to the herb garden.

With a spring snow storm all outdoor work comes to a halt.

Maude agrees with Tiggy. It is a good day to curl up and sleep.

Wow! I cannot believe the snow you've got. Is this the snow storm that just hit the midwest? At least you and your pups are making the most of it and staying cozy inside, :-)

I'm strolling this week too and I've got news about my gardening adventures and about our coming baby. I hope you'll stop on by!

Green Mamma,

I cannot believe the snow either. We are in the Great Lakes area, and I think this is that same storm. It just keeps tracking east, I guess.

I'm off to add you to my list of strollers, then to come by and see your stroll and read your news!

I can't believe all the snow you still have! I do hope you have a chance to curl up with Maude and Tiggy, too!

I know you'll appreciate the thawing temps all that much more when they reach you! Have a great week!

Ruth, We had finally lost most of the snow before this storm. There was still a bit of snow in shady places, or in dirty dwindling piles in public parking lots where they'd been pushing it all winter long... but for the most part it was gone and we were starting to see hints of green in the fields. Overnight this storm hit. Forecasts had suggested that it might be rain or a mix of rain and snow, but it was all snow... and a lot of it. We got at least seven or eight inches, possible more, through the night and all through today. Ugh. But you're right, I will definitely appreciate the warmer weather when it finally comes to stay!

Brrrr oh that looks cold. Guess I have nothing to complain about.
It was cold - in the 30's yesterday morning when my little girls and mom and my son viewed my project. But we had no snow. We are having a lot of rain. Spring you are welcome!!
Aisling - stay warm.

Ruth,

Thank you for telling me you like the new banner. I'm enjoying it!

Patty,
Thank you. Your photos are always wonderful, so your kind words mean a lot to me!

Ernestine,
It is so cold and I am growing weary of it! I try very hard to appreciate each season in its time, but I am more than ready for spring. We have mid to upper 40s forecast for this week and some rain, so it sounds pretty good! Thank you for visiting!

The snow has really just kept coming in the North this year. I'm a bit further South right now, but I know our N NY place got more today. I just went back to look at the pics again, and curious as it may seem, I adore that pic of the frosty doorknob!

Small Pines, Your next winter might be quite a doozy, as they say, if this trend continues!

Thank you for coming by and making nice comments on my photos. I like that doorknob photo too, and the mound of snow on the five gallon bucket. It really shows how much snow fell in a hurry!

WOW, look at all that snow! We have been lucky so far... Well, I guess we got it in January. But nothing this late, I will keep my fingers crossed!! It sure it beautiful though!!!!!!!!!!

Mandie, It was really pretty today when the sky was blue and the sun was shining and the snow was melting quickly. The sunlight was sparkling on the white surface, but the main reason I thought it was pretty was I was glad to see it go! lol! I can appreciate the beauty of winter, but I'm ready to appreciate the beauty of spring, you know? Thanks for the visit! :)

I love this post, Aisling! Just wonderful. I esp. liked the doorknow. And I really like the new look of the blog. The slide show is quite wonderful. I think this is the same as I switched to. Don't you love all that room to write in. And I've found that I can put photos on the left or right of a post now instead of just in the center as it was with my old template. Anyway, yours is very soothing, and welcoming. Thanks.

Nan, Thanks for your nice comments on my photos, and my new blog design. I liked my last one too, because it seemed to suit the winter. And this look seems to suit the spring! I haven't experimented with photo placement yet, but it's nice to know there are more options with this layout. I'm pleased with my slideshow too. It is currently running from an album of photos from my blog just from this calendar year.

So nice to have you stop by with a chatty note! :)

Wow! And I've got such pretty flowers in the garden right now. What a difference it makes where you live, huh?

Brenda, It really makes a big difference! On the bright side, the sun is already shining this morning and we may reach 51 degrees F. I'm just going to ignore the snow in the forecast for Sunday & Monday. :)

We had snow as well but I didn't leave the comfort of the house to take any pictures. Watched the snow falling from the breakfast room -- all warm and toasty!

Martha,

Thank you for visiting! I popped over to your blog... I probably would have stayed inside that comfy warm home too. The breakfast room seems a lovely place to sit out a snowfall.
