What I notice most in these waning days of summer is not the flowers, though they are still blooming sweetly, nor the colors, though they are especially intense and vivid. What I notice most is the quality of the light. The way the sun slants through the sky to pour, nurturing and warm, across the earth takes my breath away. Having said that, I will let these few images of my late afternoon walk speak for themselves. The last is a short film of a hummingbird at the butterfly bush. Sadly the camera I borrowed today does not have a sound feature for video, so you will have to just imagine the hum of the ruby-throated hummingbird's wings.

Thanks! :)
Gorgeous colour. Love seeing the cosmos. I used to grow it but haven't lately. Perhaps next summer....
Thrumm, thrumm, thrumm. I was the sound track and underscored the flight scene. Good camera work. You stayed with her pretty good.
Margaret, Thank you! The cosmos are a favorite, so I have a great big patch this year. I hope they drop lots of seeds and replant themselves for next summer. We'll see!
Mom,
Thanks. :) I was so close, about one foot from the hummingbird when I first started filming. It just ignored me and enjoyed its nectar.
I agree with you, Aisling! The light is miraculous this time of year. I wish my camera could capture the moon. The moon is in all its glory.
Pom Pom,
I have taken just a couple of good moon shots and lots and lots of poor ones! Thanks for visiting!
How very beautiful, Aisling! I just love your close-up shots!
Good luck with all the school happenings: your children and yours!
Ruth,
Thank you. Taking close ups is one of my favorite things to do. I just love that perspective on a flower.
Good luck to you too with this new school year!
aisling, how fun was that? and how did you get so close to that little hummer? I am envious and also guilty as I have not deadheaded my numerous butterflies this year..oy..
anyway, I didn't stroll but baked,as you might have seen.
xox
Linda,
I have never gotten that close to a hummer before. I tried still photos, but the hummer looked like a ghost in every one! Literally! So, I tried the video feature and got lucky that this little bird seemed to just ignore my presence and go about the business of gathering nectar. Your brownies look delicious, by the way, and what lovely, fine, ingredients you use. One must pamper one's self sometimes! :)
