With a nod to both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year, I went looking for color today, especially red. These snow covered hills are not as monochromatic as one might expect, thanks to the intense color of sunset (this one is from several nights ago) or the soft rosy glow of morning. Abundant evergreen and red-twigged dogwood also offer relief from the white, gray and brown palette of mid-winter. Glossy rosehips cling to their thorny, leafless vines.
Brittle, brown leaves cling to red branches, until the cold wind blows them down.
The fire-thorn clings fiercely to generous clusters of bright orange berries, offering a burst of color against evergreen leaves. I am glad to see them glowing against the drifts of snow.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. It's blue and cold here, too. Happy Valentine's Day, Aisling! I hope you have a day off tomorrow and can rest, read, and think!
Pom Pom, I do have a day off tomorrow, though all the kids will be here so resting, reading, and thinking may fall by the wayside. lol! Thank you for the visit!
Just LOVE the color you found today, Aisling, especially the incredible sunset!
Ruth, Thank you. That sunset was from a few nights ago; I just snuck it in. Tonight's sky is as gray as the afternoon, so I'll stick to my photos instead of gazing out the window. I hope your weekend was relaxing!
the amazing color you found in your midst is set so beautifully against the monochrome of winter, i loved it!
happy ♥ day to you xo
Linda, Thank you! :)
Color, color other than black and white. Ah, thank you, I needed that. When the current snow disapears, I have just got to get out and see if there are any berries or lingering colors still to be seen around here. Well, we do have scads of green thank goodness. Does a red bridge count, I think it should.
Mom, If a blue door counts, then a red bridge definitely counts! :)
I wish you a cozy day indoors (quilting of course!) and a good stretch when the snow abates.
Aahhhhhhh...... aisling..... so nice to have found you and your beautiful space...

Vida, I'm so glad you found me as well. I've taken a quick look at your blog. Your life on a Greek isle sounds idyllic! I will be back to visit again. Thank you for letting me know you were here. :)
