"Much of my reading time over the last decade and a half has been
spent reading aloud to my children. Those children's bedtime rituals of
supper, bath, stories, and sleep have been a staple of my life and some
of the best, most special times I can remember."
~ Louise Brown
Just my youngest and I were at home this evening. He is ten now and shares my love of stories and quiet moments. It is a poignant pleasure to spend time with someone who is growing so fast. He is becoming something new and something more every day, and yet keeping that bright lively spirit that he has had since his first breath.
A little while ago, we sat down together to a very simple supper of roasted vegetables and lemon quinoa pilaf. Now, he is nibbling a few of the left over roasted chickpeas and reading near me on the couch as I write this.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you quiet moments.

You are so right. I remember reading to our children as we sat in a shabby old recliner. We'd pile up the books and I would listen to my voice and think, "My reading voice is soft and easy tonight. It isn't always." Miraculous.
Those are the moments to cherish, aren't they? Thank you for coming by, Pom Pom! :)
Perfect cherishable times. We do not get them often enough and we do not usually get them again.
Tabor, You are right. It is a blessing to recognize those moments as they occur, instead of wistfully recognizing them after they have passed. Thank you for your comment.
What a lovely photo of what's sure to be a cherished memory. xoxo
Thanks, Gypsy! Speaking of lovely photos, your profile photo is gorgeous and your vegan food blog is inspiring. Great to see you here! :)
They grow up so fast.
So many memories of my 4 children
and now 3 grown grandchildren.
I spent Friday with my 2 youngest grandchildren 7 and 10. Such joy they are but I was sure tired when the day was over.
Your photo
is beautiful...
For some reason
when I read your post
you always warm my heart and
I am always proud of you...
Ernestine, Thank you for such a kind, personal comment. I am glad you were able to spend time with your grandchildren. I know there is a lot they will learn from you; things you may not even know you are teaching them. It is a beautiful thing, this chain of love and life, isn't it? I'm so glad you came by to visit. You warm my heart too.
Oh Aisling, I have missed your gentle spirit. I'm glad you're writing again.~~Dee
