The Pace of November

There is still plenty to do on the farm in November. We are still harvesting a few late season gems from the garden: Brussels sprouts, tiny second growth cabbages of red and green, even a few lingering florets of broccoli, among other things.  We will be making apple jam this weekend, and digging up some horseradish to grind and preserve.

We are deep cleaning animal shelters and canning room floors after a busy summer.  The pantry needs to be emptied, scrubbed down, and put back in better order.

Despite that long list, the pace of November is slower.  The very air is more still since birds have flown and leaves have fallen.  The wind skirts through bare branches these days.

The morning is a soft sigh and the night a long, deep exhalation. I feel the cool, calm of November fill my being and I breathe it in.

Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you serenity.

What a beautiful view you have, so peaceful. I enjoyed reading about your November days, especially since there was only a bit of gardening for me in a few raised beds this year. Goodman's work schedule took a topsy-turvy turn that didn't allow for much home life, but we're hoping for a return to sanity soon.
Have a lovely week!

That particular view is at a park on my way to work. It is a lovely place to watch the sun rise! I wish you a tranquil return to normal routine soon!

It's nice to still have some harvest items. I am, shocked how late I am getting items. Ate my last ripe tomato, have a few to fry today.

I love the way you say things! November IS a good old month! I feel as though she is zipping along at a brisk pace.

After a busy, busy September -October (busy only because...we rarely have a *single* plan on the calendar and all of a sudden Michael had three exhibits plus a trip to WV!). Now that the dust has settled we hope to ease into late-autumn and the holiday season.

Your words perfectly sum up the season...I am so glad I stopped by this morning, it's nice to *see* you again!

Your sharing brings back memories
of my gardening, canning and filling the pantry.
Today
did pick a bowl of my turnip greens
I know the last of them.
Miss my gardening of the past
but the energy would not hold out :)
