Been taking a daily walk with my son... well, I have been walking.
He has another mode of locomotion, as you can see.
We are walking along the road so he can skateboard,
but there is still plenty of nature to enjoy.
On rainy days, like today, I am indoors cooking much of what lingers in the root cellar.
This warmer, wet weather will lead to spoilage, so I keep my eye on things.
Today, I was slicing Delicata squash to freeze for later use.
While I was busy at the cutting board, a pot of butternut squash soup, with wild rice,
mushrooms, and a bunch of big onions from the root cellar was simmering on the stove.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you comfort and joy,...
and something really yummy for dinner. I'd love to hear what you're having!

The soup sounds scrumptious! Your boy is a cutie pie, sailing along ahead of you!
(BIG HUG!)
He is a cutie pie! I just savor every minute with him... He is the youngest of my four, so I know now how fast time flies. These days are precious!
HUGS BACK ATCHA, POM!
Hi, I've just come across from Blogoratti's blog.
Days spent with sons are very precious indeed!
Your soup sounds lovely.
It was a chicken dinner in our house tonight, and very tasty too!
All the best Jan
Lovely post! Is there much traffic on that road? Is that your place on the side?
Jan, How nice to meet you. Thank you for linking over! Glad you had a wonderful dinner. I'm off to explore your blog too. :)
Nan,
That is a neighbors house. I like the look of it, up on a bluff. There is very little traffic on this back road. In the summer ,it is a major biking thorough-fare, but still very little motorized traffic. It is off the beaten path, which I love! So glad you came by.
Nice to have a few leftovers in your cellar. I always tried to put just enough away for a year.
That's what our aim is as well. Of course, these squash will not hold up until October when we get the next harvest... so we will have those that are in the freezer to tide us over. The onions we may have a little surplus on, but we will use them in our organic homemade garden pest deterrent spray, in the summer. It has been working out pretty well!
