Unfolding Wisdom...

This past weekend, seven-year-old Sijo was prompted by his aunt and his father to offer his advice on "how to get a girl." His words of wisdom were, and I quote, "Make a good first impression. Don't be too nice."

I really appreciate your pictures of plants and explaining what they are. I've never seen wild ginger or lady's mantle. Or rather, I've probably seen them but not known what they're named. I'm learning.

Catherine Mary, Thank you for your comment. I will try to get a good photo when the wild ginger blooms; it has a very atypical blossom. I'm glad you visited!

Wild ginger! Did you find it, or plant it? I went on a wild edibles hike with a good naturalist this past weekend and was hoping to spot some wild ginger and learn how to identify it. Oh, well. No such luck. But I did find wild mustard that has a horseradish flavored root.

I planted this, but am enjoying getting to know the plant so I'll recognize it where-ever I encounter it! I'm very interested in foraging as well> I have many edible and useful native plants on my 3 1/2 acres. It is a fascinating subject! I'll have to look up something about the wild mustard you mentioned. I have a lot here, but have never known about a horse-radish flavored root.
