A Snippet...

from Thursday afternoon in the Quiet Country House.

Me: Let's sit in the sunshine and read Dr. Seuss.
5-year-old Tanka, with a great big smile: Thanks, Mom!

It's nice to read books with children. I am sure Tanka is very thankful to you.

My youngest love the good doctor too.

"Horton Hatches the Egg" was my favourite as a kid, followed by the Grinch.

So simple, but so sweet.

Eva, We always read aloud together at bedtime, but it was nice to find a quiet space in the afternoon to sit in the sun and read together. We both enjoyed it! :)

Kate, I love Horton too, but I think my favorite is "My Many Colored Days." Unfortunately, we don't own that one, but I check it out from the library periodically.

Chellie, I think these little moments are what are most important to me. It isn't grand trips or big expenditures - but quiet, simple sweet joys shared with family and friends. :)

Ah, enjoy these moments Aisling, and I know you do. Too soon they are gone. But if you're lucky you'll have a bunch of grandchildren to read the very same books to one day. We collected Little Golden Books when my sons were small and when Matthew had his child, he asked for them for her. He had special memories about those books and wanted her to know his joy.

Robbin, We have a small collection of Little Golden books also. Reading together has built some really special memories!

Nancy, Thank you for thinking of me with the Peer Award! How nice! I'll pop over and check it out. :)
