This little fellow, Ruby, came to visit while we were there. What? You can't see that little hummingbird sipping from the coral bells. (I know... Bird photos are not my strong point!)
A few days ago this lovely dinosaur...er, snapping turtle, visited our veggie garden looking for a place to lay her leathery eggs.
The pincushion flowers have burst in to bloom in the past few days, attracting butterflies, moths and honeybees.

I love the spent poppies, they indeed look like little charactors that I have seen somewhere before. I'm not sure I would have remembered Tim Burton. I am pleased to say I saw the hummingbird as you said I might. Needed the prompt first. All in all a pleasant walk.
I spent more time walking and enjoying that snapping photos, but it was indeed pleasant.
What a great shot of the turtle! You were lucky to see it.
Joyce, She took her time wandering the garden looking for nesting site. We went down and took photos and looked at her, and walked the little boys over (they were nervous) so they could see how cool she is. She was a very cooperative photograph subject! We got quite a few shots. Thanks for visiting!
You sure have a lot of wildlife!
My cousin (who is our neighbor) saw a snapping turtle in our yard two weeks ago but it was gone by the time I got home from school.
Great poppies and turtle! I love all things poppy! I'm impressed you managed to capture an image of a hummingbird -- something I have yet to do.
Abbie,
We do have a lot of wildlife. Most of it, I haven't managed to photograph. I hope you get another chance to see that snapper!
Tabbie,
There is a house a few miles from here with a long wide stretch of poppies blooming at the edge of their yard. It is so pretty!
wow - how big was that turtle? He looks huge!
The turtle was pretty big... maybe a 12 to 15 inch long shell... Just guessing. Good thing they move slowly. :)
Poppies are my favorite, and those DO look exactly like Tim Burton characters. Because of our slow spring, ours are just on the verge of FINALLY blooming. Now I'll find them extra entertaining. Thanks!
June, How nice to meet you! I took a peek at your wonderful blog and will be back over to see if your blooming poppies make an appearance there. Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment.
I love the series of photos of your pincushions.
Beautiful photos and what great company you had!
Love the "locals," especially the snapping turtle, but I'd keep my distance from him!
Jessica, Mandie and Ruth,
Thanks for visiting and for your nice comments! I'm rushing off to set up this week's stroll post. :)
