Tuesday Topic : Seasonal Produce

What produce is in season where you live right now?

What is your favorite way to prepare and eat that item?

If you have time, please join the conversation in my comments or link to a post on this topic on your own blog.

We are still overwhelmed with tomatoes, but apples are starting to pile up now too.  Made Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats earlier this week. Yum.

In a mason jar:

1 chopped apple, tossed in cinnamon (and a teeny bit of sugar, if you wish)
1 cup oats
1 cup milk (I used almond/coconut)

Add a drizzle of maple syrup (or other sweetener of choice)
And a handful of sunflower seeds

Put in refrigerator overnight. Eat cold in the morning.

I love this easy breakfast and the fresh apple added a great crunch!

You are welcome. It is nice to have new ideas for breakfast sometimes. And I'm all about easy on work mornings!

Yum indeed! I have a deep dish apple pie recipe with a crumb topping that I just love. Need to make that SOON! lol

I hope you like it! This is one that you can play around with... Using any fresh or dried fruit, seeds or nuts, choice of sweetener, etc. The oat and milk proportion should be constant, I think, but all other additions ate flexible! Let me know what you think!

This is the season of the apple! Maybe I'll have a scoop of applesauce for breakfast. Your Mason jar idea is a great one!

Oh yes, this season says "Apples" loud and clear. :-) And for my family, nothing says it like Home Made Apple Pie with home made crust.

And not far behind, is the cry of baked Squash!!! :-) Love cooler weather, for baking all vegetables.

Happy Eve of the Autumn Equinox, to you!

Mmm... Love homemade applesauce, still warm and laced with cinnamon!

I agree; only homemade crust will do! We are not yet to squash season... but it is just around the corner. Happy Autumn to you!

Oh! We have been eating spaghetti squash already. It has been really good. This was our first year to grow it.
