Planted Ring of Fire Cayenne Peppers from High Mowing Seeds in red plastic cups today. They take a while to germinate, so for now are nestled in behind the wood stove keeping warm. Will be planting tomatoes soon as well (waiting for back ordered seeds.)
The day was windy and quite cold, and the week ahead looks like more of the same. Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you satisfaction and comfort.

I hope it doesn't either, but it is "supposed to." Brrr! So ready for spring! I try to be organized, but have to admit there is some effort involved in being so. ;)
Put in 4 flats of peppers yesterday. I always wait til St. Pats for tomatoes.Getting snow here today, so winter is still here.4 lambs so far.
We usually wait a little longer for tomatoes too, but we are going to try to set some out early in "Wall o Water" season extenders. I am also waiting on my bell pepper seeds... not by choice, but because they were back ordered. This is why I like to save my own seeds, but we wanted to change varieties on a few things.
It will be exciting when those first few seedlings pop out of the soil!

Ernestine, That will be good too! My oldest daughter is in an apartment, and planning a balcony garden. I think it is just nice to be responsible for growing something...little garden or big garden... flowers, herbs, or vegetables. It sort of connects us with nature. I love that connection. So glad you visited! :)
Great minds think alike - I too have been sowing seeds of tomato, chilliest, sweet peppers, cucumbers etc. They are nestling in a propagation on the window sill. Unfortunately we had sleet and snow this morning, this afternoon it has all gone and we have a bright, blustery day. March, in like a lion, out like a lamb.
Elaine, I love starting all the plants indoors at the end of winter. It reassures me that spring really is on the way. I am eager for a bright, blustery day! We are still waiting! Enjoy it!
I always expect winter to simply disappear when March arrives. I should know better!
Oh! Me too, Marianne. Really spring starts near the end of March, but I am so ready for it as soon as I flip the calendar page!
The snow is so pretty! Some wildflowers are starting to bloom here. I'm new at growing vegetables in the desert. I hope to grow some peppers this year. :)
You are starting those tomatoes early...or do you have a greenhouse for the interim cold weather?
Tabor, We are going to set them out early in May in "Wall o Water" season extenders. I will start some later, to set out later without the wall-o-waters. Trying to get earlier tomatoes, and stretch the season out a bit. It is a new process for us... If it doesn't work exactly as expected, it will at least be a learning experience. In the past, I have started tomatoes the third or fourth week of March and it is just about right for planting outside the first weekend in June. We usually have to throw frost covers over the tomatoes a time or two in June up here in the north woods.
It feels early to me too! Although... the peppers really take this long, to germinate and to get going.
