Favoring February: All Haiku, All the Time

If you would like a little challenge for the short month of February, consider participating in National Haiku Writing Month.  Share online, if you wish to, or just sketch your thoughts gently into a notebook, for your eyes only.  You can read all about it here: NaHaiWriMo.

What a way to honor this month in the midst of winter!  It can be a tough month weather-wise, at least where I live, but I have to ask myself, how could I make this month a favorite?  What rituals or traditions could I initiate or resurrect?  How can I, I wonder, favor February?

I will begin, one haiku at a time.  How will you favor February?

Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you contentment.

Let's see . . . Feb. can be a fun month to do a self directed study of Washington and Lincoln. We could send some special surprise valentines. We could eat more ice cream. We could make candles.

You broadened my horizons, Marcie. I didn't know what Haiku was until I went and looked it up. That's a great challenge.

Pom Pom, Those are great ideas. I would especially love to make candles. My mom did that when I was a little girl. She sold them at a local shop. My favorites were the red ones that she made in a tall ice cream sundae glass. She topped them with whipped white wax, a wick and the tip of a straw sticking out. They looked like beautiful ice cream sodas. :)

Sandra, I am happy to have expanded your horizons! Are you thinking of joining in? I hope to!

I remember writing Haiku in high school and having some of them published in our school yearbook. I think that was the last time I wrote them. Interesting challenge!

Cat, I hope you will join in! Fun to revive an old skill. I used to write them on this blog quite often, but haven't done so in a while. I am going to try to meet the challenge!
