Nature Journal - Gratitude

Today I began the second week of my Autumn Nature Journal.
Here are a couple of glimpses of the past few days.

My "Colors" heading featured orange, and blue,
and even black one day this week.

Under the Simple Pleasures heading,
I notice a trend toward warm beverages,
as the temperatures have been quite cool!

In place of the "Random Thoughts" heading,
I made a heading for "Gratitude."
I think I will stick with this one for subsequent weeks.

If you are joining in keeping a nature journal with PomPom and I,
or even if you are just reading along,
I am grateful for you.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy.

Sunday Stroll - Through Golden Fields

The evening lights our way,

as we slip between the apple trees

and the golden fields.

We find that some blossoms have faded,

but fresh blooms linger

along our trails.

The stillness of evening is a comfort,
at the end of a busy weekend.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you peace.

Autumn Journal - September 22

This is the first entry in my nature journal.  I am borrowing a format I found on Pinterest, through this artist blogger.  I was inspired by her headings: Sky, Colors, Random Thoughts, and Simple Pleasures.  I may use different headings on other pages, but I liked this for the first page, which will include my entries for today, tomorrow and Sunday, with the page divided vertically into three parts.  Now, if only my art would "land on" the page looking just as it appears in my imagination!

On a side note, this blogger lives in my region and her watercolor sketches are beautiful, so I've found a new blog to follow.  Perhaps I should head on over and introduce myself!

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you good company.

Autumn - Nature Journal

Today, the first day of autumn, is the day
that Pom Pom, of Pom Pom's Ponderings, and I
are planning to begin our nature journals.
Will you join us?

Today is a blank page.
What will you fill it with?

Wherever you are,  whatever the weather,
I wish you wonder and joy.

Sunday Stroll - Undaunted

Morning clouds herald the arrival
of an afternoon storm.

Dressed in their brilliant colors,

with all their bright flags waving,

the flowers are undaunted by the weather.

The flowers pictured here are all growing,
in a tangled blaze of glory,
in the center of the vegetable garden.
This space is intended as a habitat oasis
for pollinators and other beneficial insects.

We will not till this up,
but will allow this mix of wildflowers,
herbs, and old fashioned cutting flowers
to self-seed with wild abandon
 and thereby limit disruption
to the life cycles of the insect inhabitants.

Because we used some seed mixes,
it has been fun to discover what plants have emerged.
The daisy-like mums in shades of pink and purple
have been a nice surprise
in these last days of summer.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you peace.

Steve's Stroll is up!
Head on over to his blog to see how fall is sneaking up,
