Sunday Stroll - Last Sunday of January

Something beautiful awaits us,
just over the rise.

Ice catches the light
that the clouds are trying to hide.

We walk,
taking deep breaths of  winter-fresh air,
as the cold wind scours our faces.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy.

Head on over to Steve's blog to see all the fun there is in strolling Out on the Prairie.

Sunday Stroll - Creekside

Run with me,
over the patchy snow,
down to the creekside.

We can linger there in the arms of the trees,
listening to the slow melt
of this brief January thaw.

And then,
when we walk in the cedar glade,
let us look closely.

And, more closely still...

We may see that the earth
is still full of life
beneath the snow and ice.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you serenity.

You won't believe who Steve met during his stroll,

Sunday Stroll - Short & Sweet

We walked the ice-glazed trails of a local nature center on Saturday afternoon.
Snow lay like lace upon the trees.

Our husky ran up and down the snow covered dunes by the Lake Michigan shoreline,
with his wild heart racing.

Standing amid the beach stones,
half buried in snow,
while winter sun
fell through the wind,
my wild heart raced too.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you peace.

Hop on over to Out on the Prairie to see Steve's Eagle-filled Stroll!

Sunday Stroll - All Gray and White

It is a limited palette in my northern climes
in these early days of January.

I took a couple of quick walks,
between hefty gusts of wind today.
Most of the photos that I took
were blurred by blowing snow,
or waving branches.

Here is just a glimpse.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy.

For a much more varied palette,
