March Photo A Day 9: In the Sky (and More!)

We walk in the woods so often here,
that the sky is bordered by bare branches
and cedar boughs.

Micah and I walked past the puddles
where the main trail crosses the cedar swamp.

We walked up to the ridge,
to get a glimpse of the deep blue lake on the world's edge.

And then we sidestepped,
 like two mountain goats,
down a steep hill to the Moss Trail
that runs in the valley
along the eastern edge of the cedar swamp.

We knew that a great Artist had hiked through before us.
The evidence was everywhere.

Our circuit brought us back to the place where the trail crosses the swamp.
We paused there, while the crows,
the guardians of this small forest,
bid us farewell with their strong, insistent chorus.

Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy.

Tomorrow's prompt is "Youth."

Oh, Wow!!!
Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!!!
I especially love the autumn leaves on top of the ice!
Is that your dog...he or she is beautiful!!!
We had an Alaskan Malamute that we loved dearly. He passed away about three years ago. My husband and I miss him so much`
Lovely post~

Thank you, Jan! I love the leaves on the ice too, and the pattern in the ice is fascinating. Each of several puddles had those concentric rings on the surface! Yes, that is Micah, our "new to us" Siberian Husky. He is exuberant, to say the least! Keeping me on my toes. We also have a senior dog, Mabel, who appears from time to time on my blog.

Thank you for your kind response to my post! :)

I found you through Sandra's blog and had to take a look. I love your poetic styling that matches your great pictures! It makes me want to go out in nature for a nice walk. The bright yellow moss and the image of what looks like a maple leaf in the middle of that log is really neat. As you can tell, I am not poetic with words:)

Birgit, Thank you for your kind comment! I hope it does inspire you to get out and walk! :D
I think the "maple leaf" is actually just the different colored rings at the center of that trunk. It does look like a maple leaf, though, which is fantastic! I'm so glad you came over and I think you have a nice way with words. Off to see if you have a blog too!

you found lots of treasures, spring is coming your way

I did find treasures, but it looked as though, when the snow melting, Autumn was hiding below. lol. I cannot wait to see hints of spring bursting through. I have a few spring bulbs emerging in the garden nearest the house, where there is a warm micro-climate. They are strictly in the green tips pushing through the soil stage, but it gives me hope!

Enjoy the season where you are, Steve. Hope you have some fun activities planned for the weekend.
