Sunday Stroll - Dog Days of Winter
When the snow drifts, go with the flow.
Follow the shoreline,
and when you must,
step out of the wind
and up into the woods.
As you breath the crisp air,
the sound of the winter surf
will add a counterpoint to the
laughter and the footsteps
and the whisper of falling snow.
That is the sound of winter's song,
in these northern hills.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you laughter and good company.
Sunday Stroll Invitation - C'mon Join the Fun!
"There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing."
~ Sir Rannulph Fiennes
Another snow storm here, but we have folks coming over to go for a long hike at a nearby state park. We'll bundle up, load our dogs into all the four wheel drive vehicles we can round up on short notice, and go!
Please join me today for a Sunday Stroll. Even a few photos from the back deck will do, if you s.l.o.w. d.o.w.n. to a Sunday Stroll pace, breath deeply, and notice what nature has to offer in the midst of February.
If you do snap a few photos of nature in your neck of the woods today, please share a link in the comments, and I will add you to a list of strollers so that we may all share the beauty of this world, one little bit at a time.
Head Out on the Prairie for birds, deer and more with Steve!

Saturday Snapshot - Nap Time
I hear the crackle of a low fire in the woodstove.
I see all the comforts of home
near at hand:
blankets for coziness,
teapots for warmth that grows
from the inside out,
books for reading...
now or later.

I taste the simple refreshment of lemon water,
and smell lunch baking in the oven;
a farm-fresh frittata,
generously speckled
with home-grown vegetables.

I feel blessed and very fortunate
on a quiet February afternoon.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you bountiful blessings.
on a quiet February afternoon.
Are you a napper? If so, are you an arm-chair snoozer, or do you climb into your comfortable welcoming bed? Are your naps the twenty minute cat-nap variety, or long and indulgent? I am not much of a napper, but I try to take a cue from my napping animal friends and take some time for quiet rest in the afternoon, for a book, a cup of tea and a luxurious stretch as I rise.

A Walk on the Wild Side
Our Sunday "Roll" the other day
took us to meet family,
enjoy a nice lunch together,
and most excitingly,
to bring home an energetic new member of our household.
Mabel, the sweetie we adopted two years ago,
is not sure what to think. Micah is just over a year old and,
as anyone whose ever met a husky is sure to tell you,
intelligent, beautiful, and demanding of your time and energy.
My work situation has changed recently,
allowing me to be home much of the time.
I will never be lonely, let me assure you!
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy and good company.

Sunday Roll - Through the Windshield
Headed out on a bleak morning,
up and over the Mackinac Bridge.
Along a windy highway
through Michigan's Upper Penninsula.
Met some family at Rosy's Diner,
as seen in the film,
Escanaba in the Moonlight.
This is the northern shore of Lake Michigan
in the first week of February.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy in the journey.
You can check out two more strolls (which actually involved walking, unlike mine!) at:
