wind taps the window
dances through the room singing
come outside to play
~ a haiku, by Aisling, July 24, 2008
Most of the day, I've been in the house cleaning. I've scrubbed the inside of the refrigerator, done several loads of laundry, and done some reorganizing in my bedroom. I'm accomplishing some things that are long overdue, but the beautiful day is calling to me. When this next sinkful of dishes is done, I think I'll go outside and pull some weeds in the garden. I'll take a look around and see what is ready to harvest so that I may plan dinner. I may even wander over to the "berry bramble" and nibble a few golden raspberries.
Where-ever you are, whatever the weather, I hope you enjoy the beauty of the day.

Beautiful picture and Haiku, I'm your biggest poetry fan you know. Yesterday, as I slept the day away it was actually a cool cloudy and sometimes rainy day but the heat is back today. Early this morning Sweetie and I took the short walk and back down the drive to the mailbox and everything smelled so clean and fresh and looked Green again.
My goodness, you deserve to go out and play, you've accomplished a lot this morning. Have fun and enjoy those raspberries!
I'm back in and forgot about the raspberries. I would have remembered, but as I was weeding (sitting and leaning down very close to the ground) a garter snake surprised me. I'm not particularly nervous about snakes, but the suddenness of its slithering startled me! I came back in the house for a glass of ice tea. I probably will head out for those berries later.
I'm glad you stopped by. Thanks for the nice comment on my haiku. I'm glad you got your short walk in the freshness of the day. Isn't it wonderful what a little rain can do for the world around us?
you are such a lovely writer, aisling! and your photos....yum...it looks like you even have a BLUE sky! imagine that...we have not had a blue sky in months here on the Left Coast as I have heard it called :)
Linda, Your skies are smoky gray I guess? That must be hard... day after day after day. I'd share my blue skies if I could!
Thank you for the nice visit and kind comment!
hugs,
Aisling
Beautiful, Aisling! I hope you are enjoying your day as well. I can't wait to hear what you harvest!
Rapunzel, Today is pretty too, but very very windy! So far, we've been harvesting swiss chard, garlic scapes, and radishes, plus a few small carrots. I am eagerly awaiting the few peaches on our tiny tree (we put it in on Mother's Day.) When I start getting anything significant, I'll have to post photos.
Those raspberries were yummy, but I really am just getting a few a day. This is their first year. Another year, I'm hoping for a generous harvest.
I love your poem, it is wonderful. The weather has been oh so hot. The girls have been swimming to stay cool. I am ready for it to cool down.
Mandie, We have been lucky this year. Our few really hot days were followed by really mild lovely weather. It'll be our turn for hot and dry, or wet and miserable another year, I'm sure.
Thanks for the nice comment on my haiku! :)

I think this is the most beautiful Haiku I've ever heard.
Mother Nature,
What a very nice thing to say. Thank you. And how nice to meet you (though since you are "mother nature" I feel I've known you for a long time!)
I'll go exploring to see if you have a blog, so I can return the visit.
