Snow dominates earth and sky in a northern winter, but beneath the pale sunlight and betwixt the snowflakes, caught in the crooks of trees and piled on vacated nests, there are remnants of other seasons.
Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you beautiful moments.

I love how nature leaves little reminders that life does go on, :-)
Jessica, Me too! Thanks for visiting! :D
I love the snow mounds and caps on everything. It actually looks inviting. But lets just look out the window and enjoy the cocoa and do our oohing and aahing from inside.
I wasn't planning on going out, but Limerick told me it wasn't "too bad" outside. I believed him, but he was wrong. As I trudged knee deep in snow, it was bitterly cold. But, as you see, I found a few things to snap photos of, so it was worth it. I think I got a good cardio workout trudging back up the hill with my heavy boots on and my heart pounding from exertion! :)
The bird nests with snow piled high make me miss the birds. I wonder what they are doing now. I have a tiny little nest in a fake tree, in my classroom. I put Play Doh eggs in it and a few kids have noticed.
It's so mucky on the sidewalks and streets here. We're many warm days away from the melting. Sigh. Do you have a few more weeks before school starts again?
I heard a little bird while I was out walking. It was such a sweet, refreshing sound!
I begin school again on the 12th. The kids go back tomorrow though. I will take this week to get the house organized, cook "ahead" a little bit and freeze some things, and also to read a novel or two. :)
Such beautiful bright, red berries! I love these photos--so pretty!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend (despite the fact it's almost over).
these are absolutely breathtaking photos and i am so glad i wandered over tonight, just for a quick visit...what a treasury in landscape is your part of the world!
xoxo
Jessica, I did have a lovely weekend; thank you! This morning is my children's "back to school day" after their holiday break. We had a two-hour delay due to weather and bad road conditions. After the delay, it will be back to the school year routine. My house will seem too empty and quiet, I think!
Linda, Thank you. I'm so glad you came by. I was glad I forced myself out into the cold to catch these images. Did you notice my tiny whithered wild grapes? There are so many this year that just shrivelled on the vine. Usually the birds get most of them. :)
I love these pictures. It probably won't surprise you to hear that just the other day I thought of taking a photo of a nest much like yours and calling it snow nest. :<) I might still get to it.
I'd love to see your snow nest, Nan! Thank you for your nice comment on my photos. I'm always glad I got outside to walk and observe... even if I have to talk myself into gearing up and heading out!
How nice to see you here! :)
