Sunday Stroll - Other Januarys

As I listen to the rain pelting against the front door, I've decided to stroll through the Januarys of the past few years rather than head out into the wet and windy afternoon. It is warm enough for the falling precipiation to be rain and cold enough for it to freeze on many surfaces, especially the big patches of snow that still linger on our country lane. All of the photos which follow are from January, most have appeared here on my blog in previous years, and most are from mid-month. So... this is January in my northern hills..

I fell in love with the snow capped flower heads until I saw the 'mother ship' you captured this year. Who knew they would show up at your house? The rains here have been relentless and so I readied my sewing gear for a day of machine quilting tommorrow at our guild meeting and gave my Sunday Stroll a rain check.

Funny! :)

A day of machine quilting sounds fun and productive. I hope you enjoy yourself amid kindred spirits. A rain check is a good idea... as you can see, I concur! My only strolling was back through old photographs and peering out the windows.

Love these pics and remember seeing some of them the first time round!
Your rain seems to be headed our way, too. Could be a real mess, rain on top of snow and very frozen ground....

The wind howled here, too! The grocery store was packed. No walk - just grading. Is school back in session for you?

Margaret, It's messy here, but could have been worse. I hope it doesn't get too bad there! Stay safe!

Pom Pom,

Yep. Been back at it for a couple of weeks. Yikes, do I have a big load of homework this semester! I have to write a legal briefing this week. Huh? I thought I was going into education not law. lol!

Aisling~I love your photos from other Januarys, as well as your music in the background! I knew we were getting rain, but I thought you'd have snow! C'mon, winter isn't over yet!

How is school going and your coursework? My classes start up again this week and I have to say I've enjoyed the brief reprieve!

Happiness and comfort to you and your family, too!

We are having our little January Thaw, but will soon be back to snow I am sure!

School is going alright thus far in the new semester, but the work load is heavy. Each new semester is an adjustment, as I try to figure out when to fit all the homework into my busy mom schedule!
Good luck to you this term! I hope it is a lovely week.

Your photographs just go to show that our winter gardens have just as much beauty as our spring, summer and fall gardens, yes? I love the 2010 photograph. The sky is amazing!

Jessica, I admit I do not spend as much time outdoors in the winter, but I do love the serene beauty in the garden in winter. Thank you for your thoughtful remarks!

Beautiful pictures and a great idea. I really must get out more. I tend to stay inside way too much. :<)

Nan, I probably would too if I didn't have my Sunday Stroll. :)

Linda, Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I'm off to see your post now. This has been a busy week and I've hardly been online since posting last Sunday. :(
