Sunday Stroll - Hopeful Birch

I wandered the quiet trails at camp this afternoon,
listening to bird song and wind rustling through the fresh leaves of mid-spring. In the birch woods, some ferns were open, while others were just unfurling...

In the open fields beyond the birch wood, there were things to see
above my head and below my feet.

Even returning home we found beautiful vistas.
These white tail deer watched us approach on the dusty lane.

while the sun settled into the lake with a splash of glowing light.

Where ever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you beautiful light.

Linda, I look forward to that day. :)

Joan, Thank you. Camp is just a few miles from home. We are fortunate that some dear friends have established a camp on their "back forty." We went there just for the evening yesterday to cook "breakfast for dinner" camp style, and I took my walk while we waited for friends to arrive. It is very peaceful and pretty there!

Hannah, Glad I could help to brighten a Monday morning!

Thank you all for visiting!

Deb, Thank you! Sometime I will have to photograph all of the cool things like the outdoor kitchen and the "dining room" (a big white canvas tent that stays up May through October) and that sort of thing. :)

Marcia, It has been a work of several families over the last few years to establish the camp. I've posted a few photos in the past, but will have to think about what I might have called my posts so that I can find them. lol!

Thank you for your lovely note. :)

Wild Magnolia, Thank you for your nice comment. I love the way you worded it, "wonderful wander through the woodland." It just sounds joyful and uplifting when you say that out loud. :)

I loved camp when I was a kid and then as a grownup, we took our whole family to work at camp for four weeks almost every summer. I've had enough of it now, but I DO like to sleep in cabins, don't you?

Marcie said...

Pom Pom, I love to sleep in cabins, although we have a camper at camp not a cabin. In previous years, I have usually come home to sleep because of taking care of pets and getting my daughter to work early on Saturday and Sunday morning. We'll see how this summer goes!

Your photographs always leave me feeling more connected to nature, and thus, calmer. Thank you, :-)

And I especially loved the shot of the birch trees.

Jessica, I'm so glad to read your comment. It feels like a meditation to me, to walk in nature, camera in hand... noticing as much as I can. And, then, it feels like a meditation to post the photos and write the simple words that accompany them. I'm glad to know that you feel the meditation in the words and images. Thank you for letting me know.
