Beautiful, beautiful! It looks like the mums are planted in the ground? Do you buy them in pots and then plant them? In the fall or in the spring? I didn't buy any this fall, but when I do, I just keep them in their pots.

Linda and Nan,

Thank you both! The mums sure add a lot of color to the garden in the fall.

Nan, I buy them in pots and plant them, making sure that I find myms that are hardy to my zone. I have so many varieties now and some new ones have sprung up from seeds. I haven't bought a new one yet this year, but hope to if I find a few minutes to shop for one! :)

PS, Nan - I plant them in the fall. Sometimes they sit in pots on my porch first, sometimes they go straight into the ground. :)

Aisling, like you I buy them in pots to decorate the porch, and then plant them. I've got them all throught the garden now, though only in gold and rust. I must branch out, color-wise!

Zowee! Those mums are unbelievable! They're gorgeous. I can usually get them to last a month or so, but that's usually about it. So pretty!

City Mouse, Do you put them in the ground? These are cold hardy to zone 4b or 5 (I'm kind of on the line.) Thanks for the nice comment. I really enjoy them!

The Costco muffintop mums certainly make a statement - but I appreciate the beauty of the flowers when they look more like your plants! Very pretty.

Your mums are beautiful! I didn't plant any this season and I'm missing that lovely fall color now. They don't usually overwinter very well here so I have to treat them as annuals.

I enjoyed going back and looking at your previous Sunday strolls.

Barbara, Thank you. I haven't ever bought the great big "over the top" pots of mums... mostly because I'm always looking for mums that are hardy here.

Marnie, I live in a cold zone too (4b/5) but do well with hardy mums. I have to go back to your blog and see what region you live in that is too cold for mums. I would have almost nothing going on in the garden right now without mums.

Thank you both for visiting! :)
