For the birds

Each time I look outside my windows I see birds in these days of early spring. I watch blue jays swoop around boldly as I wash dishes. Turkeys in the front yard distract me as I sit down to the computer to do school work. Normally cheery robins look a bit worried as they hop about on the cold ground, looking as if they weren't counting on there still being snow when they returned to the north. Here are a few images... none of them good, many of them taken through window screens. The focus on several is blurred by the frenzy of falling snow. The flower photos are from yesterday when it was cold but sunnier.

I'd love to stay on line and catch up on blog reading, but I have much to do! We have a birthday in the family this week; my oldest daughter will be 19! Today is our party; just a quiet gathering here at home. I need to finish cleaning, bake a cake, and then my nine year old son is going to make a lazagna for his sister's birthday dinner. Wherever you are, however you're filling your hours, I wish you joy!

Happy Birthday to my eldest grandchild, a grown woman now. Sure wish I could taste That Sijo's dinner. Maybe someday he'll prepare his speciality for us. Our 50th is coming up next year that might be a good time. Say Hey to everyone for me. Luv, Ma

What patience. Happy birthday to your daughter, and after the party, looking forward to seeing what else is going on around the farm.

Brenda,
I haven't seen the turkeys in the front yard before yesterday. Usually they are way down in the fields where corn or oats grew last year (on our neighbor's farm.) I think this winter has dragged on for them also, and they are just looking for food in new places.

Green Mamma,
I'm not feeling very patient as I wait for warmer days! :) Today is supposed to be "dry" but I'm not sure it will be sunny or warm. We have an Easter Egg hunt to take the little boys to today, so I'm hoping for good weather.

Thank you both for visiting!

Hi Aisling, I'm sorry it's still cold where you are. You know about my silly weather. We're supposed to get two more freezes.

Happy birthday to your daughter. One of mine just turned 16, and the other 10. While we baking muffins this morning, the youngest and I talked about when she was small. I think it's wonderful your son is making lasagna. These are precious gifts we are passing on to our children.~~Dee

Dee, I have one that just turned 16 too. Right now it is fun, I have, a 19 year old and a 16 year old, then a 9 year old and a 6 year old. :)

I wish you patience with your weather. All we can do is protect our more fragile plants as carefully as we can. Many years I have gorgeous tulip blooms, with leaves whose tips are blackened and shrivelled from some earlier frost or freeze.

Thank you for visiting!

Those birds are awesome. I have to admit, I am a little afraid of big birds, like the wild turkeys. Guess I'll have to get over that. LOL Happy Birthday to your daughter! Have fun!

Small Pines, I don't think I'd go out and pet one, but I never thought about being afraid of one. *grin* Yep, you'll probably encounter some even scarier critters in the Adirondacks!

Thanks for kind thoughts!
