Sunday Stroll - On the Vine

Clouds do not keep us from the garden.

Unripe Concord Grapes

We still linger in the light that glows in the grapeyard.

We pull fruit from the languishing vines,
as the clouds overhead drift slowly toward the eastern hills.

Amish Paste Tomatoes
Delicata Squash

Luffa
 We pause to notice everything;
the colors and the sounds
and the golden, ripe-grass, fragrance
of this September afternoon.

We find a little friend taking a breather near the tomato patch.

We head indoors with our baskets heavily laden,
for the vegetable garden is generous at Summer's end.

Because this is Labor Day weekend,
and we are headed to a family gathering this evening,
I spent the afternoon making a sun-warmed salad to share.

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you abundant joy.

If you can, please take a few moments to share the beautiful images
in Steve's Stroll Out on the Prairie.

Grapes are ripe here, some for a few weeks. I went to the local vineyard and grazed on theirs. I make a pie with the concords that is good.I like to freeze the juice and eat it as a sorbet.

Lovely to see your photographs here.
The vegetables look great - enjoy your salad.

Hi Marcie! A sun warmed salad sounds wonderful!
I'm hoping the zucchini is slowing down. Everyone is tired of it. I guess I can continue to put it out by the street with a friendly note attached. It worked last time!
