Sunday Stroll - Welcome October

October rode in on blue, blue skies.

We harvested butternut squash, pumpkins
and the last of the tomatoes this weekend.

The gardens offered up marigolds and red coreopsis
for autumn displays near the house.

The herbs are waning, going to seed.
The pantry and root cellar are full
of this season's generous bounty.

The honey has been collected by local beekeepers
who have their hives on our property.

The bees are still busy
in the golden fields and the gardens near the house.

My helper, PJ, and I tackled the weeds
in the neglected tea-herb garden this afternoon,
with golden sun warming us as we worked (or lounged!)

Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you a joyful October.

Steve was a little busy this weekend, but posted a Sunday Stroll nevertheless.
Wait til you see what he's been up to here: Out on the Prairie.

Such a lovely autumn post Marcie. I do hope that bee keepers share some of their honey with you.

This is the first year these keepers have had bees here, but we are expecting a bit of honey since we shared our fields and gardens! :)

A real charmer, I like how the cat went for the bare spot in the garden with that don't move me look.I have tons of tomatoes still on and will have to get someone to babysit, but may come back to a frost.

Your place is looking very fall-ish. Love the pumpkins and cheery marigolds.
Sorry I'm a bit late to the party, we had a wedding shower to attend out-of-state over the weekend...

I truly should go weed my herb garden too. The herbs are huge and leggy and looking rather tired. Soon my hubby will enclose the front porch in plastic, and we will dig some things out of the ground and put them on the porch in pots. I'm ready for the settling-in feeling of early winter.

The lovely colours of autumn. I love the pumpkin and orange flowers decoration! Autumn has such a snug feeling to it. How lovely to have bee hives on your property! You must be set up for delicious honey too!
